Learning French

If you're considering learning French in France, there is no better place than the riviera: just a train ride away from the French capital of Paris, the riviera enjoys inclement weather all year long.

Nice

The capital city of the French riviera, it is no suprise that Nice is home to several French language schools, including Actilangue. Actilangue is located in the heart of the city near the Promenade des Anglais and the beach. Actilangue offers both group lessons and individual courses in conversation. Group lessons are arranged based upon age, experience and interest, so the teachers can integrate students' individual hobbies and activities into the language learning process. Additionally, the school offers leisure and sports activities and weekend excursions around the riviera.

Nice is also home to Azurlingua, a French school that is located in a beautiful Belle Epoque building in the city center. The school offers courses for adults, a summer camp program for teenagers and kids and a program for teachers of French as a foreign language as well. Azurlingua is partnered with several other French language schools throughout the country, so it is easy to pair your stay with Nice with a stay at one or several other schools in Paris, Biarritz or Provence.

Cannes

In Cannes, you will find the Collège International de Cannes, a unique school that offers not only basic and intensive courses in French, but also the additional options of cultural electives, on-campus housing in comfortable dorm-style rooms and meals. On the campus of the Collège International de Cannes are organized the DELF examinations that students can take in order to obtain the national diploma of French language for foreigners. Add to this the fact that the Collège is located right on the beach (you can see it from the terrace at the edge of the campus) where sports activities are organized, like volleyball and soccer, and the fact that the school itself organizes excursions to nearby towns and cities, and the CIC is an obvious paradise for learning languages.

Antibes

In nearby Antibes, you will find the Centre International d'Antibes, which offers the added bonus of classes specifically geared towards children, teens, families, seniors and school groups. The school offers several residence options including individual studio apartments near the school and hotel accommodations. The school also offers a summer option for teenagers that integrates language learning with courses in sailing.

Villefranche-sur-Mer

For a short and intensive French course on the riviera, try the Institut de Francais in Villefranche-sur-Mer. This school offers a 2-4 week program of eight and a half hours a day, five days a week French courses. The school offers several different kinds of classes all combined into one intensive program, including real-life situation practice, French meals and discussion. The school also provides accommodation in nearby apartments.
