The French Riviera is so charming that movie makers have been trying to immortalize its beautiful landscape on film since the late 19th century.

Here are some examples of movies that have been shot in the region or somehow related to Le Midi (as the south-east of France is sometimes called).

Killers (2010)

Summary : When Jen Kornfeldt (Katherine Heigl) is holidaying in the French Riviera with her parents after a painful split up, she unknowingly falls for an international assassin, Spencer Aimes (Ashton Kutcher). The Bucket List (2007)

Summary : Two terminally ill patients - billionaire Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) and mechanic Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) - form an unlikely friendship when they were warded in the same hospital room. Together, they set out to accomplish the items on their "bucket list" (stuff they want to do before kicking the bucket) and encourage each other to live life to the fullest.

Mr. Bean's Holiday (2007)

Summary : Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) wins a free camcorder plus a trip to France in the church raffle. However, upon his arrival in Paris, he starts getting into trouble when he accidentally separates a father from his son. After a series of misadventures, the bumbling Bean finally reunites father and son at the Cannes Film Festival where his comical video diary was inadvertently screened.

The Transporter (2002)

Main cast : Jason Statham, Qi Shu, Matt Schulze
Summary : Frank Martin (Jason Statham) is a successful transporter - a criminal who moves goods for a living. However, his life is plunged into danger when he violates his own code of practice and gets entangled in the affairs of the woman he is transporting.
French riviera scenes : Nice and Rue Pierre et Marie Curie provided the setting for the opening car chase. Other Cote d'Azur locations shown are Avenue de Saissy, Cassis (Frank's home), Eze Village, Marseille, Villefranche-sur-Mer and St Tropez.
