Saint Jean-Cap Ferrat may be small, but you can still find stellar cuisine in this charming Riviera town - just be sure not to fall into a tourist trap along the port!
La Goelette - Port Saint Jean
While many of the restaurants along the port of Saint Jean offer less-than-great food at extreme prices, there are a few places where you can get a good meal without paying through the nose. La Goelette is one of these restaurants, offering several prix fixe menus right on the port. At a reasonable price under 30 Euro (in 2009), you will find selections mostly incorporating local seafood and Provencal cuisine influenced by nearby Northern Italy. Typical dishes include seafood risotto or seasoned grilled fish.
Le Sloop - Port Saint Jean
Another restaurant right on the port, Le Sloop doesn't seem much different from the others that dot the boulevard - not until you taste the seafood, that is. From langoustines to lobster to fish soups and stews, fish-lovers are sure to find something they will enjoy at this tasty restaurant. It may seem slightly pricey, but the prices reflect the quality of the food, and you won't find a better deal in this touristy but beautiful area of St Jean. To cut the budget a bit, choose a local wine - there's a good selection and they're all quite tasty and much lower in price than some of the ones from further afield.
Capitaine Cook
If hearty portions are what you seek, look no further than this seafood restaurant slightly uphill from the centre ville of Saint Jean. Here, you'll find not only oysters on the half-shell, a local specialty served over ice, but many more dishes including typical bouillabaisse as well as the house specialty of roasted catch of the day. This restaurant is slightly further from the touristy districts than those that are located along the port, and this is reflected in the prices - you'll pay about 30 Euro for the prix fixe menu, and the portions are much larger than those you'd find on the port. You can easily split a main and a few appetizers if you order a la carte.
