Saint-Tropez Nightlife

St Tropez is often known as "St Trop" by the locals, or "Saint-Too Much". How the city earned this punny moniker is apparent when out and about in the city at night.

Bar au Port

This bar is one of the first stops for many locals - it opens at noon but starts filling up around 10 or 11 as people flood this bar for after dinner drinks. It's also one of the best places to score an invite to one of the exclusive clubs and parties around the city - come dressed to impress, and you may just find your way into a VIP room by the end of the night.

Les Caves du Roy

This flashy, over-the-top club located within the Hotel Byblos has been around since the 1970s, something that is apparent from the decor featuring disco balls and bright pink and neon colors. The thirty-some-odd years this club has been opened doesn't slow it down at all, though this is one of the favorite stops for American celebrities when they're in town (often during the nearby Cannes film festival in May), and the beautiful people of St Tropez often spend the night here, dancing and drinking expensive champagne.

With its famous clientele, Les Caves du Roy can afford to be judgmental, so be sure to dress your best and start lining up early - the wait sometimes lasts for hours.

La Bodega de Papagayo

Right on the port, this club is easier to get into than Les Caves du Roy and has the added bonus of being one of the best places to dance in all of St Tropez. Try to get there before midnight so that you can score a drink before the crowds flood the bar and make it impossible. Most nights, Papagayo features bands instead of the typical DJs, which can be a nice change.

VIP Room - Residences du Nouveau Port

Yet another club catering the beautiful people of St Tropez, VIP room is somewhat less flashy than les Caves du Roy or Papagayo, but just as fun. Dancing is upstairs, where a steady beat of techno and house music plays. There is also a bar with seating downstairs, but it fills up early, and you're not likely to find a seat after midnight.

Café de Paris

If dancing and clubbing isn't your thing, try out the Café de Paris, a café and bar located right on the port. Score a seat on the terrace for people-watching and a drink, and you can move in for the long haul, watching people come and go from the other hot spots on the water.
